Abstract:Based on the collected activity data and emission factors of agriculture methane source, we estimated the agriculture methane emission inventory in Jiangsu Province, using the emission coefficient method recommended by IPCC (2006). The results show that in this province, the total amount of the methane emissions from agriculture source had reached 990.348Gg in 2009, in which the rice cultivation was the largest contributor with a total emissions of 829.577Gg accounting for 83.77%. Relatively, livestock and straw burning released less methane which contributed only about 14.54% and 1.69 % to the total emissions, respectively. What is more, the average methane emission intensity in Jiangsu was 9.63 t/km2· a, and some cities had contributed a larger part to the total emissions, for example, in Yangzhou, Huai'an, Nantong and Taizhou, the emission intensity of methane all exceeded 12.00 t/km2 · a, with the intensity of 13.88 t/km2· a, 13.52 t/km2· a, 13.48 t/km2· a and 12.29 t/km2· a, respectively
