Abstract:The continuous expansion of the transfer scale of farmland provides an effective way for the scale of agricultural production and management. Agricultural insurance can provide risk protection for farmers and solve the problem of the expansion of risks brought by the scale operation of agriculture. However, the impact of agricultural insurance on the scale of farmers under the current compensation level remains to be studied. Based on the micro survey data of 1377 households in Shandong and Liaoning provinces, this paper analyzed the influence of agricultural insurance on farmers"" farm land management scale from the perspective of farmers"" converted farmland by using propensity score matching method (PSM). And the Heckman two-stage model was used to analyze the influence of agricultural insurance payments on farmers"" farmland inflow. The results show that the individual characteristics, family characteristics, agricultural production and management characteristics and cognition of agricultural insurance will affect the decision of farmers to participate in insurance to different degrees. Agricultural insurance can promote the increase of the scale of transferred agricultural land, which is conducive to large-scale management. However, the current level of agricultural insurance compensation is low, and the risk protection ability of farmers is insufficient. As a result, it can only promote large-scale farmers to transfer their farmland. In addition, the effect also has regional heterogeneity. Therefore, this paper puts forward the following policy suggestions: First, expand the coverage of agricultural insurance and promote large-scale agricultural production. Second, Improve the level of agricultural insurance and optimize the payment method of agricultural insurance. The third is to promote the refined development of agricultural insurance and pay attention to the coexistence of "universality" and "difference".
