Abstract:Targeted poverty alleviation in poverty-stricken areas is the priority with great difficulty of rural vitalization. Currently, targeted poverty alleviation through tourism is becoming an important way of rural revitalization in poverty-stricken areas in China. Continuously promoting the organic link between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization is an effective way for rural development in poverty-stricken areas. Based on literature review and on-site investigation, this paper explores the main roles, practical problems and ways of promoting targeted poverty alleviation in rural revitalization in poverty-stricken areas. Results show that the idea that targeted poverty alleviation through tourism can promote rural revitalization in poverty-stricken areas has become the consensus of all parties. At the same time, it also faces many challenges, including unreasonable benefit distribution mechanism, weak endogenous growth, and ecological environment constraints. There are great needs to accurately identify the suitable areas, the implementing body, the leading industries, the sources of funds and the guarantee mechanism. In accordance with the objectives and requirements of the strategy of rural revitalization, such as industrial prosperity, ecological livability, rural culture, effective governance and prosperity of life, it is necessary to comprehensively analyze the conditions and feasibility of resources, location and markets for the development of rural tourism in designated region. Meanwhile, it is necessary to deeply investigate and widely listen to opinions and suggestions, and to integrate the ideas and principles of the rural revitalization strategy into the specific plans and actions of the targeted poverty alleviation through tourism. Finally, it is recommended to scientifically plan innovative business models, to aggregate the intellectual resources, to consolidate the cultural heritage, to insist on green development, to optimize management system, and to comprehensively promote rural revitalization in five aspects, including industrial revitalization, talent revitalization, cultural revitalization, ecological revitalization and organizational revitalization.
