Assessment of Rurality and Analysis of Spatial Pattern in Yangtze River Delta during Transition Period

  • At present, our country economic and society are in transition period, rural and urban development also are experiencing a transition period, from society, economy, culture and settlement spatial, rural become to urban transformation. This paper talked the Yangtze river delta for example, based on every region can be regarded as a unity of urbanity and rurality, taked urban as criteria of reference to construct rurality index, by using spatial metric model such as spatial correlation index, semivarigram and LISA, preliminary analyzed the spatial pattern of rurality in Yangtze River Delta since the 2000s. The results showed that: county rurality was unbalance, weak rurality of county was a slightly larger proportion, presented weak rurality distribution situation; county rurality global presented the spatial agglomeration distribution correlation, high-high agglomeration areas were located in Nantong-Taizhou-Yangzhou and Taizhou, low-low agglomeration areas were mainly distributed in Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou; the county rurality framework tended to be more continuous and self-organized, spatial autocorrelation caused by structural differentiation was more significant, space distribution showed some anisotropy, county rurality in northwest-southeast direction appeared “collapse” spatial distribution structure; at last, putted forward specific strategies to reconstruct the rural development in Yangtze river delta during transformation period.
