Anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations in US agricultural

In consideration of economic and political development, the US government tends to take anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations to limit the imports of agricultural products from other countries. The investigations include taking temporary measures, launching anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations, imposing anti-subsidy and anti-dumping duties, and seeking for the commitment from their trade partners, etc. These investigations generally have several important characteristics such as aiming at its major trade partners, having support of sound laws and regulations, investigating intensively, and involving in a variety of products. On one hand, US anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations achieved good results in terms of protecting the interests of domestic business, stabilizing prices, and ensuring food security. On the other hand, these investigations also led to trade frictions and harmed the interests of trade partners. As an important trading country in the global market as well as one of US main trade partners, China should also adopt anti-subsidy and anti-dumping measures in order to effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests in the international trade of agricultural products. China also needs to train more professionals who know the rules in the new era, to improve the relevant laws and regulations according to the international trade rules, to perfect the warning system of anti-subsidy and anti-dumping, to establish and improve responding mechanism, to launch and respond to anti-subsidy and anti-dumping investigations timely and actively, and to standardize and implement the investigation procedures effectively and intensively.
