The comprehensive evaluation and analysis of driving factors in Xinjiang's openning to the west

  • Xinjiang is located in the core sector of the Silk Road and is in the frontier of China’s openning to the world. Hence, Xinjiang’s openning to the west is an important part of the national openning strategy and effective approach to promote Xinjiang’s economic and social development. In order to improve the level of Xinjiang's openning to the west, this paper analyzes the possible driving factors in Xinjiang's Openning to the West, containing location, resource endowment, infrastucture, environment, enterprises development, and culture, etc. An index system of drving factors was built to measure their relative contribution by using main factor analysis approach. It turns out that ranked by their interpreting power, outgoing impetus, economic basis, social environment and natural resource are the main driving forces in Xinjiang's openning to the West, which account for 61.51%, 13.50%, 11.04% and 9.08% respectively of openning variantion. These four aspects are where efforts should be made to push the proceeding of Xinjiang's openning to the West. Finally, we put forward the dynamic role to play a leading, establish a westward open dynamic system, promote the Xinjiang's West openning process through a variety of operation mode and development mode.
