Abstract:
Arsenic (As) is a ubiquitous element in the environment, high toxicity of As make them considered as a major public health issue by the World Health Organization (WHO). Therefore, scientists are constantly searching for scientific and effective methods to remove arsenic pollution. Since 1970s, constructed wetland arsenic removal system has been developing rapidly because of its environment friendly and low cost. Constructed wetlands has rapidly become one of the green environmental protection remediation technology. Constructed wetland is an ideal place for arsenic enrichment and removal. Removing arsenic pollution is mainly achieved through the interaction of humus, plants and microorganisms. In this paper, the research progress of arsenic pollution removal in constructed wetland was summarized from three aspects: 1) the history and technology development of arsenic pollution remove, 2) the development history of constructed wetland and the occurrence of arsenic in wetland ecosystem and 3) arsenic pollution removal technology and its application in the constructed wetland ecosystem. According to the contents mentioned above, we suggest to pay more attention to diffusion, migration and evolution of arsenic in wetland ecosystem. We also should focus on the construction of submerged-floating-emergent plant system in wetland, and research on the synergistic and interface effect of plant microorganism and humic acid enhanced remediation on arsenic pollution.
