Abstract:
Using the hierarchy analysis and expert consultation method, this paper builds a more scientific evaluation index system of urban modern agriculture development by measuring and calculating the degree of development level of Beijing urban modern agriculture quantitatively from 2006 to 2011. Comparing the evaluation results with those of Shanghai, Tianjin, and Guangzhou, we found that in 2011 the realization degree of Beijing urban modern agriculture was 72.16%. In the four secondary indexes, the realization degree of the rural development level was 82.16%; the realization degree of agricultural input level was 76.83%; the achieved degree of agricultural output level was 62.58%; and the degree of agricultural sustainable development level was 73.56%. The realization degrees of Beijing urban modern agriculture form 2006 to 2011 were 60.53%, 63.76%, 67.48%, 67.94%, 69.56%, and 72.16% respectively. In contract, the degrees of the development levels of urban modern agriculture in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Tianjin were 66.80%, 66.15%, and 66.80% respectively. These numbers show that Beijing urban modem agriculture had a steady development in the past six years, and were almost in the late stage of the development period in 2011, though some indicators had unbalanced development problems. Beijing still leads the whole nation in the development of urban modern agriculture with great development potential. Comparing with other three metropolises, Beijing has some weakness in the following areas, including the total power of agricultural machinery on unitary arable land, the land productivity, the added value of agricultural GDP, per capita output of meat, egg, and milk products, and the quantity of pesticide application on unitary cultivated land.
