Abstract: Modern agriculture has multiple functionalities, including economic production function, ecological service function, social security function, culture transition function etc. The multi-functional development of agriculture has gradually become a hot topic in modern agriculture research. The multi-functional development of modern agriculture in Shaanxi Province has achieved its initial results, representing in its prominent function in economic production, obvious function in social security, and initial appearance of functions in ecological service and culture transition. Yet there also exists the problems of insufficient investment in economic elements, the needs to improve its breadth and depth in modern agriculture’s multi-functional development. Based on the above analyses, the researcher proposes that in order to increase modern agriculture’s multi-functional development the countermeasures should be carried out from four aspects: to make plan in modern agriculture’s development scientifically, to expand modern agriculture’s multi-functional breadth and depth, to encourage social capital’s investment, and to strength government’s supporting measures.
