Abstract: With lower investment requirement and lower technical threshold but with shorter production cycle and higher economic return, egg-laying duck industry has always been one of the most important income resources for farmers and plays a significant role in national waterfowl industry. Hubei Province, with environmental and geographical location advantages, has established its uniqueness and representativeness and taken a big market share for the egg-laying industry in China. Therefore, studying on egg-laying duck industry in Hubei Province has significant implications for improving farmers’ income, securing farmers’ employment, expanding value-added sector in agricultural industry, and adjusting the industrial structure. Based on the field researches conducted by the economics investigation team of national waterfowl industry system, this article introduces the status quo of egg-laying duck industry in Hubei, identifies the problems and future trends of the development of egg-laying duck industry in Hubei Province, provides some possible solutions for the problems, and also gives some suggestions on the modern management and sustainable development of egg-laying duck industry in Hubei Province.
