Abstract:
Studying and understanding the influencing factors of the planting enthusiasm of large rice farms, a new type of agricultural business entities, is of great significance for protecting farmers’ enthusiasm, adapting to agricultural specialization, cooperative management, and stabilizing grain production. Based on large rice farm survey data of Suzhou and Wuxi in Jiangsu Province, and applying the ordinal logistic model, this paper analyzed the four groups of main influencing factors for the planting enthusiasm of large rice farms, including the population variables, rice production and operation conditions, technical factors, and the information policy supports. Results show that: 1) large rice farms’ planting enthusiasm was low; 2) 6 variable, including the ages of the household members, farm income, infrastructure construction, technology adoption, training frequency, and grain production subsidy satisfaction, had significant influences on the planting enthusiasm of large rice farms in Jiangsu province; 3) the educational levels and duration of land circulation are also important factors; and 4) whether or not purchase insurance, technology accessibility, and the satisfaction of land circulation channels did not impose significant impacts. Based on the findings of this research, this paper provides the following suggestions to incentivize the planting enthusiasm of large rice farms: creating innovative grain production compensation mechanism, paying more attention to agricultural technical training, improving agricultural infrastructure, enhancing and standardizing the land circulation system, and perfecting agricultural insurance legislation system.
