Abstract: By using international papaya production data from FAOSTAT in the year 1990-2010, the article analyzed the papaya industry development situation and characteristics, and the present situation of the papaya market in China is evaluated. At the same time in this paper, through the SWOT analysis method is expounded of Hainan papaya industry development present situation, it pointed out that the Hainan papaya industry although there are congenital natural environmental advantages and strong agricultural technology advantage, but still exist such as production and processing technology, high-quality talent shortage, papaya variety, government protection service functions is not enough. Therefore, to strengthen government support, create a leading enterprise, breeding excellent varieties, it is necessary to put forward strengthening the cooperation between enterprises and other related policy recommendations.
