Abstract:
China being a net import county of corn since 2010 has raised great concerns about corn imports and introduction of foreign capital. In this paper, we conducted analysis on the impact of variations of patterns in corn imports to the food security in China from the aforementioned perspectives. Study showed that: (1) our government has strong control over the corn market, and the continuous increasing capacity for corn provision in China, huge provision capacity from international market, and relative small risk on grain embargo will not impact Chinese food security, (2) the impact of foreign owned enterprise to Chinese corn industry is not significant and it is very difficult to shake the dominance of domestic entrepreneur; (3) opening the corn imports market would take a positive role in the development of China's corn industry and food security
