Abstract: The core of construction of the main functional areas of agriculture is to enhance the spatial governance of agricultural development. The Central Plains Economic Region can be divided five agricultural areas according to the theory of Major Function- Oriented Zone. It carries the social, economic, ecological, cultural and other functions of modern agriculture, and the modern agricultural development level trends to be different. The extent of technical equipment in the agricultural areas of Zhengzhou city, the mechanization and chemicalization in surrounding agricultural areas of city group of central plains, and the irrigation in the Huanghuaihai special agricultural area are in a higher level, while the agricultural inputs in conservation and protection of southwest areas are in a low level overall. The classification guidance for the districts functions, outstanding the focal points, and advancing in echelon are the keys to the coordinated development of modern agriculture in central plains economic region
