Abstract: The present situation of the development of agricultural mechanization operation service in Chongqing takes on the following characteristics: the quantity of service organizations increases relatively rapidly; the service patterns are diversified; the service level has been raised; the service incomes keep increasing. However there are some problems: the constitute of service organization is unreasonable and the scale of that is very small; there is disequilibrium among the development of four kinds of service patterns; the service level is fairly low; the average operation service incomes of peasant households with agricultural machinery fluctuate relatively heavily. The main reasons that cause these problems lie in the restriction of natural environment, infrastructure, economic condition, labour force quality, planting and management habit. To solve above- mentioned problems, the following countermeasures can be taken: adjust the police of agricultural machinery purchase and allowance; amplify the financial and tax system; quicken the infrastructure construction; promulgate the subsidy police of agricultural machinery fuel oil; build the information network of agricultural mechanization; improve the service organization forms and patterns of agricultural mechanization operation service; train the employed in agricultural mechanization operation service
