Abstract: The thesis analyzes spatial-temporal characteristics of urban-rural development differences in Hubei province from income level, consume level, agricultural and non-agricultural productivity which is based on economic data between 1980 and 2009. It turns out that the developmental difference of urban and rural takes on the character of fluctuation in Hubei province. Even worse, it has a trend of continually enlarging of late years. The main influent factors include the segmental binary structure of urban and rural industrial structure, the low level of the agricultural industrialization and so on. Lastly, the thesis puts forward several countermeasures and suggestions of deepening the reform of system, adjusting and optimizing industry structure, developing the non-agricultural industry and developing eco-cultural tourism circle in western Hubei to reduce the urban- rural differences in Hubei province.
