Abstract:
This experiment was conducted to compare the growth performance and intestinal digestive physiology of 1-21 and 28-70 day-old Lionhead goose, Sichuan white goose and Wuzong goose. A total of 270 healthy one-day-old Lionhead geese, Sichuan white geese and Wuzong geese were selected, respectively. Each species was 6 replicates, and each replicate has 45 geese. In 1, 7, 14, 21, 28, 42, 56, 70 days, two birds in each replicate were selected for slaughter, respectively. Growth performance, the growth index of intestine and digestive enzyme activity were determined. The results showed that ADG and F:G of Lionhead geese in 1-21days and 28-70 days were extremely higher than that of Sichuan white geese and Wuzong geese(P<0.01). F:G of Sichuan white geese in 1-21 and 28-70 days was significantly lower than that of Wuzong geese(P<0.01); the relative duodenum weights and relative duodenum lengths of three geese in 1-14 days were not significant, the relative duodenum weight of Sichuan geese in 42 and 70 days was significantly higher than that of other two geese(P<0.05); jejunal enzyme activities of three kinds of geese in whole stage were significantly higher than those of duodenum, and Lionhead goose and Wuzong goose have higher values than Sichuan white goose. It is concluded that Lionhead goose has better growth performance than the other two geese. The intestinal ontogenetic patterns of these three kinds of geese were roughly the same, which have the higher growth rate from 1 to 21 days, and become steady from 28 to 70 days.
