Abstract:
Identifying the different paths for digital infrastructure construction to support agricultural green production is conducive to enhancing the agricultural green total factor productivity in a targeted manner. Based on the technology-organization-environment (TOE) framework and the configuration perspective, this paper uses the panel data of 29 provinces in China from 2014 to 2023 as a sample, measures the antecedent conditions using the entropy method, combines the measurement based on slack variables (SBM) model and the global Malmquist-Luenberger (GML) index to calculate the agricultural green total factor productivity, and uses the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method to identify the implementation paths under different condition combinations. The results show: 1) Each single condition is not a necessary condition for high-level agricultural green total factor productivity. Different combinations of technologies, organizations and environments can form multiple implementation paths. 2) Five high-level configuration paths have been identified, which can be classified as policy and institutional dominance type, digital service dominance type and dual-factor synergy type. 3) Policy and institutional environment is the core condition in 4 high-level paths, is an edge condition in another path, and is a core absence condition in the identified non-high-level paths, demonstrating the important role of institutional support in different combinations. 4) The configuration paths have regional and temporal differences. The core position of technical conditions is more prominent in some later paths; the paths of high digital infrastructure construction have a higher number and overall coverage, while the low construction group shows a more concentrated characteristic of policy and institutional dominance. Based on this, policy and institutional support should be improved, digital facilities and supporting resources should be configured in combination with regional conditions, the adaptability between digital services and the demands of operating entities should be improved, and agricultural green production should be promoted.
